    The Ceretto Family

Everything began nearly 80 years ago when Riccardo Ceretto decided to harness the energy of the unique land and soil of the Piedmont region and plant the first vineyards. That same energy was inherited by his sons Bruno and Marcello, whose creativity and foresight has led to the family name becoming one of the most recognized in the world of wine.

In little more than thirty years, the Ceretto brothers created a network of small independent estates in the Langhe and Roero, purchasing over 120 hectares (300 acres) of land to form a constellation of cellars producing wines that are appreciated by even the world's most experienced palates. (Bricco Rocche Barolos, Bricco Asili Barbarescos, Blangé Arneis, Moscato from I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano, Dolcetto, Barbera, Langhe Monsordo...) Since their entry into the family business in the 1960's, the "Barolo brothers" (the nickname given to Bruno and Marcello abroad) have never lost their vision of producing high quality Piemontese wines while always respecting tradition. Their passion and inspiration for wine comes from the love they have for the area in which they live, and with this, a vision of wine production as a form of art.

This vision gave birth to ideas such as the Chapel of Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett, perhaps the most sensational example, in the Barolo Brunate vineyard, a masterpiece of great emotional impact in its display of pure and decisive colors. A second example is the glass Cube at the Bricco Rocche winery, a modern structure incorporating the ideas behind its construction - sharp angles, a hard surface like the work in the vineyards, precious like the land upon which it is built and transparent to integrate completely with the surrounding landscape. One cannot forget the family's cultural initiatives either, book presentations and events, beginning years ago with the Langhe-Ceretto award, and continuing with celebrations such as the Festa del Blangè. A never ending challenge, which has been inherited with great enthusiasm by the next generation of the Ceretto family, Alessandro, Federico, Lisa and Roberta.
